North Winds Mechanical Named Nantucket’s First and Only Mass Save® Heat Pump Leader Contractor
A First for Nantucket. A Win for Homeowners.
North Winds Mechanical is proud to be the first and only contractor on Nantucket participating in the Mass Save® Heat Pump Leader Network (HPLN).
This exclusive recognition is more than just a title. It means our team has met the highest standards for system design, installation quality, and customer satisfaction. And more importantly, it means that Nantucket homeowners now have direct access to instant rebates, 0% financing, and guided support through one trusted local team.
With key rebates set to decrease in 2026, a federal tax credit expiring in 148 days (Dec 31, 2025), and new refrigerant regulations about to reshape the HVAC industry, there has never been a more important time to act.
What Makes the Heat Pump Leader Network Different?
The Heat Pump Leader Network was created by Mass Save® to identify contractors who consistently deliver:
Accurate load calculations and system sizing
Best-practice installation and integrated controls
High customer satisfaction
Ongoing participation in advanced training and quality assurance reviews
North Winds Mechanical is the only contractor based on Nantucket in this network. That means you get peace of mind knowing your home is in the hands of a trusted team, not an out-of-town installer.

Why Heat Pumps Are a Perfect Fit for Nantucket
Heat pumps are not just energy efficient. They are specifically well suited to Nantucket’s mild coastal climate.
According to Mass Save®, modern cold-climate heat pumps are cost-effective compared to propane heating down to 5°F. Since most Nantucket winters stay above this threshold, a properly sized heat pump system can provide reliable, efficient heating all season.
Plus, heat pumps offer:
Heating and cooling in one compact system
Quiet operation and improved air quality
Reduced reliance on fuel deliveries
Long-term savings and increased home value
Do Not Wait: Refrigerant Changes Are Coming in 2026
In addition to expiring rebates, homeowners who delay installation may face challenges related to the upcoming national refrigerant transition.
Starting January 1, 2026:
The EPA will ban the sale of new systems using R-410A refrigerant
New systems will require A2L refrigerants, which are mildly flammable
A2L systems may require new tools, ventilation requirements, updated electrical, and additional permitting
Parts and servicing for R-410A equipment will become more limited and expensive over time
By installing an R-410A system now, you avoid future compatibility issues and equipment delays while still qualifying for maximum rebates and tax credits.
